The Northern Virginia Workforce Investment Board named David Hunn the Executive Director on April 5, 2002. Prior to joining the NVWIB, he was the founding Director of the Regional Workforce Development Coordinating Center of the Northern Virginia Regional Partnership. The Northern Virginia Regional Partnership is a public-private partnership comprised of business, education, local government and civic leaders which represents over 1.6 million residents and is specifically focused on developing a world-class technology workforce throughout the region. The Partnership was created in 1997.
Prior to his work with the Regional Partnership, Hunn served for 10 years in several career senior human service and workforce development agency positions with Fairfax County, Virginia government, including Deputy Director for Operations and Administration with the Department of Family Services.
Before joining Fairfax County, Hunn served as a budget examiner and appropriations analyst at the U.S. Office of Management and Budget from 1982-1987. He entered Federal Service as a Presidential Management Intern with the US Department of Transportation in 1980.
Hunn graduated from the Leadership Fairfax Class of 1995. He is also active in a number of organizations throughout Northern Virginia, serving as:
- Vice-president of the Board of Directors for Opportunities, Alternatives and Resources of Fairfax, Inc.
- Member of the Advisory Board for the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Northern Virginia Center;
- Member of the Northern Virginia Manpower Consortium Private Industry Council;
- Member of the Board of Directors for the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce.
He holds a B.A. in political science from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from California State-University.
